A Long Time Since Posting… Too Much to Say

19 12 2009

And too little time to say it.

Regardless, many things have happened, and I’ll try to post once a week from now on.  Can’t make any promises, but so many things have happened these past months it’s ridiculous, both with me and with the government, I can’t say it all in one post, nor will I even try.

Well, with me, I’ve just been busy, and have had little to say, but I heard something from Judge Napolitano on the Glenn Beck Show which really got my blood pumping, and summed up things in a way that I will just paraphrase, but he has it right on.  We have rights given to us by God, and “Goods” either purchased by us, or for us.

Rights are fairly simple, and these are mine, if not Judge Napolitano’s:

  • Life, Liberty, the Pursuit of Happiness.
  • The Right to be protected from our enemies, especially the ones that continue to rail against us, like Iran, or those that wish our Annihilation, like Al-Qaeda.
  • The Right to be LEFT ALONE when we are not violating the rights of others.
  • The Right to be protected when our rights are violated.
  • The Right to Worship or not Worship as we see fit, so long as we don’t violate the rights of others.
  • The Right of Free Speech, Religious or otherwise, so long as we don’t slander others.

There are others but I’ll stop there for right now.  The following items are considered “Goods” or “Products”.  Things we might need, but don’t have a intrinsic “Right” to it.

  • Video Games
  • Computers
  • Food
  • Shelter
  • Pets
  • Education
  • Health Care

Yes folks, Education is a “Good”, a “Product” and not a “Right”.  It’s merely one that is provided by local and state governments up until High School through tax dollars in the Public System, and by individuals in Private Schools.   College is something that is provided by a combination of scholarships (if you are lucky enough to get one), and individual efforts.  Some colleges are partially buffeted by again, tax dollars.  This is done since we as the people seem to allow it.

Also, yes, regardless of what our left-winged friends have told us over the last decades, Health Care is a”Product” a “Good”.  When done in a marketplace, there is competition and innovation.  But yet, in Emergency Rooms funded by the government, they are forced to give care, regardless if people can afford it or not.  Also, the argument of “Health Care Reform” may be valid, but the people making the argument are saying that the Government isn’t involved enough, and that we need over 100 new beuracracies, at least according to the latest form of the bill coming out.  Or they’re not really saying it, but it’s in the bill.

That’s another rant, and a third.  And I don’t have the patience for it right now.

The Lady Dolphin is enjoying time with her brother and nephew south of the Mason-Dixon, and I’ll be awaiting her return when she comes back tomorrow night.

Looking at the weather reports, I’m wondering if I should have left for Florida already, instead of waiting for a likely “Nor’Easter” late tonight.

That is all for now.
